Shax

“Do you want to try again?” I ask Shadow quietly. She was absolutely mortified when Xavier burst in here earlier right when she was about to peg me while I was sucking Salax off. It was…inconvenient, to say the least. At the worst, Shadow has changed her mind about doing it. I know it took a lot for her to strap on the dildo and make the decision to do this for me. For us. She wanted to be more involved, and I adore and worship her for it.

She bites her lip, her gorgeous yellow eyes slightly sad. “I want to…” she starts but trails off and looks away.

“It’s okay,” I tell her immediately. The last thing I want to do is make her uncomfortable in any way. “We can leave it for now.”

She nods gratefully. It nails home that she only agreed to it in the heat of the moment and that she isn’t really ready to try it. It’s fine. I don’t mind. I need her to be sure of it.

“I want to go back to Hell,” she blurts out suddenly, startling both me and Salax, who is lounging on the bed next to me.

“Oh?” I ask, sitting up. “I thought you liked it here?”

“I do, but I don’t belong here. I can’t Shift when I want to and I can’t breathe properly,” she says in a rush.

“What?” I ask in concern. “Are you okay?”

She nods. “I’m fine, but I feel like the walls are closing in on me. I’m sorry. I know you like it here.”

“I don’t care,” I tell her, taking her hand. “I just want you to be happy and safe. Are you ready to go back to Hell and face all of …that?”

“Yes,” she says with a sigh. “I need to. The Griffins need to know that I’m not one of them and that I belong with you.”

It makes my heart happy to hear her say that. “Do you mean that?” I ask cautiously.

“Of course,” she says in surprise.

“Will you marry me then?” I ask.

“Wh-what?” she splutters, her cheeks going red. “What does that even mean?”

“It means you will be mine forever and ever,” I say.

Her eyes flick briefly to Salax. He is being remarkably quiet. He knows I’ve wanted to ask her this. We’ve already discussed it.

“What about him?” she asks, licking her lips.

“Do you want to marry him too?” I ask. I was prepared for this.

She shakes her head. “Not yet. But that isn’t a no.”

“I get that,” I say.

Salax snorts quietly but doesn’t say anything.

“Okay,” Shadow says. “I will do this marry thing. I love you, Shax and I want to be with you forever and ever.”

I grin at her, pulling her to me for a kiss. “I love you too.”

“What about you two?” she asks, indicating between me and Salax.

“I’m game,” the Dark Cupid says. “Never figured I’d say that before, but I am completely happy.”

“One thing at a time,” I say with a smile. It was hardly the agreement of the century.
